This publication is a collective work with eighteen contributions prepared by researchers from various fields who delve, from their specialty, into the analysis of the essence and morphology of the complex universe of the celebration. This book aims to provide a broad vision of the baroque festival and its evolution, projection, revitalization and metamorphosis in the present. This issue is approached from an interdisciplinary approach, in which multiple artistic dimensions are intertwined – iconology, theatre, dance, architecture… – that interrelate to configure the global festive event. This publication focuses its attention on a broad spatial framework (the territories that have made up the empire of the Spanish Monarchy) and time (from the XVI to the XXI century). In this extensive context of places and dates, we reflect on the various festivals in which majorities and minorities participate and, with their corresponding identities and idiosyncrasies, shape these festive events.
